Witness the Nighttime Economy

Witness the Nighttime Economy was realised over eight months. It is part of an ongoing long-term project, started in October 2011, when I started to record the aftermath of violence experienced at night by people in the city center Temple Bar area of Dublin that has a high concentration of cultural buildings open by day but dominated by pubs and clubs at night. Working with the most recent photographs, interviews and texts I have devised an installation for the National Photographic Archive that is located within the architectural arch that marks the threshold where the glazed façade of the building meets the pavement outside in Temple Bar. I have made one book of images with narrative texts that describes actual incidents and memorable events that have happened to or have been seen by the narrators. Two flipbooks illustrate two outbursts of violence. Some postcards portray people who have been attacked, and public order laws are printed on a set of stickers.
